HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Matt Rocheleau spent his youth on the waters of Cape Cod fishing and digging for clams in Falmouth’s Great Pond.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
OUR STORY

He Turned His Passion Into A Small Business

When he realized that the demand for fresh clams was high, he turned his passion into a small business, bringing his sought-after catches to Boston’s famous fish pier and to a handful of Cape Cod’s local restaurants including the beloved Chart Room.

Soon after humbling beginnings, Matt met Sue and fell in love. They took their young family to Chatham, Massachusetts, where the clams were bountiful and offered the highest quality in all of New England. Matt bought a refrigerated truck, enlisted the business skills of his new bride and The Clam Man was born.

30 YEARS OF HARD WORK

The Clam Man Provides Superb         Quality Fish

In 1995, Sue and Matt moved back to their hometown of Falmouth on the shores of Vineyard Sound and opened up a retail and wholesale fish market that bore The Clam Man name. Today The Clam Man provides superb quality fish daily to over 100 restaurants and institutions on Cape Cod and over the bridge. The retail store is open seven days a week, serving a wide variety of seafood to a loyal following of customers from Cape Cod, and to the swelling summer home and vacationing population.

THE CLAM MAN TODAY

Four kids and two decades later, Sue and Matt are still the heart and soul of The Clam Man.

OUR STORY

A Multitude Of Well-refrigerated Trucks Deliver The Company’s Fresh Seafood

Four kids and three decades later, Sue and Matt are still the heart and soul of The Clam Man. A multitude of well-refrigerated trucks deliver the company’s fresh seafood to restaurants seven days a week. This volume, coupled with the daily catches, allow for fresh seafood of a wide variety to be housed daily in the retail store. Matt works hard behind the impeccably clean glass counters, unless he steps to the front to greet customers with his signature booming voice and a smile. He can locate any fish, from anywhere in the world, on a day’s notice. His son Marc works alongside him in the family business prepping restaurant orders out back, helping out in retail, working with local chefs, and purchasing seafood! Together, they keep the business running smoothly. Sue spends her days managing the business, working side by side with staff and clients and ensures that all needs are met. Customer feedback is tantamount to the Clam Man’s success, and the family takes pride in its reputation.

The very BEST seafood on Cape Cod! I live in Barnstable but will often drive to Falmouth just to buy seafood from The Clam Man.

The Chart Room:  Honesty is one of the greatest things about The Clam Man. Matt has been selling seafood to us since he first starting selling clams back in high school. The quality is always there. We have a good reputation here at the chartroom with our swordfish and lobster rolls, and the quality helps us keep that reputation going. The Clam Man knows exactly what we expect. They are always there for an emergency, and we always have an early delivery.
